OBITUARY.
FISHER.
Frank Fisher was born in Protivin, Iowa, March 14, 1893, and died at Lourdes, Ia., Dec. 5, 1918, of pneumonia following an attack of influenza. Although his illness was not of long duration, his suffering was great. Everything was done to alleviate his pain, a doctor and two nurses being constantly in attendance, but nothing could check the dread disease and on Dec. 5. He passed away.
Mr. Fisher was a man of genial disposition and had many friends in and around Lourdes where he was conducting a successful business at the time of his death.
He lived a good, Christian life and died fortified by the rite of the Holy Catholic church, administered by the Rev. Fr. Hogan, who had visited him a great deal during his illness and was with him at the last. This was a great consolation to his sorrowing wife.
Frank Fisher was married on May 5, 1914, to Mamie Dusheck, by Rev. Fr. Norris. His wife and his small children, Violet and Robert, are left to mourn him. He also leaves his father, mother, six sisters Mamie, Emma, Kate, Clara, Edith and Anna and two brothers, Adolph and Louis. Many friends regret the untimely death of this good young man and extend to his bereaved family their deepest sympathy.
The Angel of death, came hovering nigh,
And whispered quite softly, “Dear Frank you must die.”
I know you’ll be missed very much here below,
But each one shall answer the summons to go.
And now you’ve been called to that home up above.
To join with God’s angels in the heaven of love.
And to you his dear family left here to mourn,
I would bid you have courage, God’s will do not scorn,
Your loved one I’m taking with me to the blest
I found him prepared and his souls is at rest.Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery shows he was born Mar. 14, 1892 and died Dec. 6, 1918 which does not agree with the above.
