Wm. Slifka, who was ill with influenza, suffered a relapse and passed away last Saturday, January 4th. Private funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Joseph’s Church with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Mr. Slifka has been the proprietor of the grist mill on the South Side for some time.

OBITUARY.
Slifka.
William J. Slifak{sic} was born in Howard county, April 4th, 1888. After an illness of only a week he passed away Jan. 4th, 1919, of influenza which turned into pneumonia.
On Sept. 29th, 1908, he was united in marriage of Miss Mary A. Schneider, and have lived happy together on their farm until a year ago Mr. Slifka rented the farm and moved to Cresco with his family, where he purchased the Cresco Grist Mill, which he has been running almost up to the time of his death.
He was loved and esteemed by all who knew him being an honest and upright citizen.
Those who are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband, father and brother, are his wife and four children, Aloysius, Loretta, Elsie and Ruth, his aged parents Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Slifka of Cresco; six brothers John, Frank and Mike of Cresco, Joseph of Waucoma, Iowa, James of Botha, Alta, Canada Anton of Danvers, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Pecinovsky of Caddo, Oklahoma, and Mrs. William Pecinovsky of Botha Alta, Canada.
The funeral was held Monday morning from the St. Joseph’s church conducted by Rev. J. P Wagoner, interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery.
You have left our home, dear father,
That voice we loved is stilled,
But we hope to meet in heaven,
For we know it was God’s will.
