Jean Marie Hoopman was born on September 22, 1954, in Cresco, Iowa, daughter of Wayne and Eileen (Kelly) Hoopman. Jean attended Assumption Grade School and graduated with the class of 1972 from Notre Dame High School. She continued her education at NIACC in their nursing program. After graduating from nursing school as a Registered Nurse, Jean took a 1-month trip around Italy courtesy of her brother, Jim. Upon her arrival back to Iowa, Jean started her 45-year career at the Cresco Hospital. She began working in O.B. and finished her career as an ER nurse. Alongside her nursing career, Jean enlisted in the Army Reserves from 1986 to 1992.
On November 22, 1974, Jean married Robert Vobr at Assumption Catholic Church. The couple became parents to two boys Eric and Jon. Jean enjoyed spending her time with family boating on the river, camping, or hanging out at Lake Okoboji. Bob and Jean looked forward to game days at Lambeau Field to cheer on the Green Bay Packers. She could be found with her nose in a good book, testing her mental skills at Sudoku and Solitaire, or cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events. Jean was given the “gift of gab”, being able to strike up a conversation with anyone, and easily changing the subject they were talking about. She looked forward to the warmer months working on her flower gardens around her farm.
Jean is survived by her husband of 50 years Robert Vobr of Cresco, IA; son Eric (Melissa) Vobr and their children Joey, Jaylee, Garrett, Oakley, and Everly; son Jon (Breanna) Vobr and their children Keaton and Quinn all of Cresco, IA; and her sister Jane Drish of Cedar Rapids, IA.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Eileen Hoopman, sister Judy Himes, and brother James Hoopman.
