OBITUARY
WALTON.
Robert A. Walton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walton, five miles east of Cresco, after a few days’ illness with influenza, died suddenly on Friday, Jan. 3. Robert was born on Aug. 15, 1901{?} at the Walton farm in Orleans twp., Winneshiek Co., Iowa and there grew to young manhood. He was baptized in infancy and attended the public schools of the community. He was a fine young man of quiet disposition, clean habits, a lover of home, a good boy and considerate of the comforts of others. On Dec. 26, he came down with influenza and after a brief illness of only eight days, departed this life on Jan. 3, 1919, age 17 years, 4 mos. and 18 days. He leaves to cherish a very beautiful memory his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walton; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Gardner, Genie and Kathryn; five brothers Joseph John who is now in France, William, Arthur and Donald besides a large number of other relatives and friends.
A brief funeral service was held at the home on Sunday afternoon Jan 5., conducted by Rev. E. G. Copeland of Cresco and interment was made at New Oregon cemetery.Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone shows he was born in 1902 which does not agree with the above.
