OBITUARY

SHAW
Mrs. Claribel Shaw, wife of Mr. Samuel Shaw of 203 Fifth street East, after an illness of only a few days, died of pneumonia Monday afternoon, Dec. 30. Mrs. Shaw was born June 7, 1894, at Cresco, and all her life was spent in this community. When only nine years of age her mother died and Claribel was brought up in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Wells.
On March 1, 1913, she was united in marriage to Mr. Samuel Shaw of Cresco. To them three children were born, all of whom survive. Theirs was a very happy home and the shadow of death falls heavy across the threshold that was full of sunshine and had every prospect of many long and happy years to come. In early life she united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she remained a faithful member until her decease.
After only a few days illness with influenza which suddenly developed into pneumonia, she passed from the scenes of time at one o’clock December 30, 1918, age 24 years, 6 months and 23 days. She leaves to cherish a very beautiful memory, her husband, Saumel{sic} Shaw; three children; a father, E. J. Barnes, and a brother Orson, of Glendale, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Hanson and Miss Gertrude Darrow of Cresco, besides a large number of other relatives and friends.
A short funeral services was held at the home Tuesday afternoon conducted {by} Rev. E. G. Copeland and at the grave by members of the Royal Neighbors. The interment was at Oaklawn cemetery.
