Darrell G. Andersen, 59, of Waterloo, IA, formerly of Cresco, IA, died on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Cedar Valley Hospice Inc. in Waterloo.

Darrell Gene Andersen was born August 1, 1964 to Robert and Clara (Bellman) Andersen. He graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1982. In 1991, Darrell married Maxine Valvoda at Assumption Church. Together they had two boys, Derrick and Damon. They later divorced.

Darrell enjoyed camping, tinkering on cars and driving around, especially in his convertible. He liked to socialize with people and was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family deeply.

Darrell is survived by his children Derrick (fiancé Chuck Drees) Andersen of Waterloo, Damon (Melanie) Andersen of Iron Mountain, Michigan, granddaughter Gracie Andersen of Florence, WI, RJ Lash, who was like a son to Darrell, of Waterloo, siblings Chris, Vivian, Linda, Doug and lots of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Jan and Darlene.

Funeral services for Darrell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco with Pastor Dan Baldwin officiating. He will be laid to rest at St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Granger, MN. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco and will continue from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Friday.
