OBITUARY.
Isabell Walker Emslie was born at Waukesha, Wis., Jan. 1st, 1859. When six years of age, she came with her parents to Iowa and settled on a farm in Winneshiek Co where they remained for a number of years. Since 1907, the family home has been at the present location in Cresco.
At about the age of twenty-two, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of which she remained a consistent and faithful member until her decease. Belle was a beautiful and Christian lady, kind and lovable in disposition, unselfish in nature, faithful in all the duties of life, industrious, congenial, and with an open mind and heart for all that was good and lovely and pure and beautiful. To know her was to love her and to see the beauty of her life was to admire her in all her ways.
After several months of severe illness, she left the scenes of this earthly life in the early morning of Nov. 27, 1917, to enjoy the reward of the faithful of God and share the glory of her blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved and served and honored in all her walks upon earth.
She leaves to cherish a beautiful and loving memory, an aged mother, five sisters and three brothers, viz: Mrs. C. H. Rice, Mrs. John Cunningham, Sr., Mrs. G. J. Melaas and Miss Ruth Emslie, all of Cresco; Mr. A. B. Emslie and Mrs. F. P. Meyer of Rugby, N. D., Wm. L. Emslie of Brooklyn, N. Y., and Mr. John W. Emslie of St. Claude, Manitoba, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral services was {sic} held at the home in Cresco on Thursday morning, Nov. 29th, conducted by Rev. E. G. Copeland, Mrs. Dr. Allen and Mrs. Dana Mead accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Nichols furnished beautiful music. Interment was made at Oak Lawn cemetery.
