OBITUARY.
MC CLOUD.
Erwin Lawson McCloud was born near Dundee, Ill., on Nov. 16, 1849, and died at his home in Cresco, Iowa, on July 30, 1917, at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 14 days.
He was one of a family of twelve children, being the fourth son of Lawson and Elizabeth McCloud. At the age of 10 yrs. he came with his father’s family to Iowa, settling in Delaware Co., where they lived for a number of years. Later they moved to Floyd Co.
On December 24, 1869, he was married to Minnie Hathaway, of Osage, Iowa, who survives him. They settled on a farm in Mitchell Co., living there until 1872, when thew{sic} moved to Winneshiek Co., where they also lived on a farm. In 1881 they moved to Cresco, where they have since resided. To this union five children were born, two of them dying in infancy. Those surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carrie M. Brownell, of Chicago, also two sons, Chauncy of Rockford, Ill., and Berr C. of Chicago.
Mr. McCloud was well known in and about Cresco, where he had a host of friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father, being very much devoted to his family by whom he will be most sadly missed. Besides the loving and devoted wife and mother and the children mentioned above, the deceased is survieed{sic} by three brothers, Albert, of Madison, S. D.; Ralph, of Granger, Minn., and Fred, of McIntire, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schoonhoven, of Elgin, Ill., and Mrs. C. C. Brown, of Cresco, and a large number of sorrowing friends.
The funeral was held from the late home, in charge of Rev. Will Kirwin, of the Methodist church, and interment was made at Oak Lawn cemetery.
