Obituary Mrs. Frank Jones

Ida May Smith was the youngest and last surviving of seven children born to George and Catherine Smith. She was born in Cresco, IA, October 1, 1870 and died February 22, 1946. She was married January 28, 1888 to Frank Jones who proceeded her in death September 4, 1930. Twelve children were born, two dying in infancy. She came by covered wagon from Iowa to South Dakota in the spring of 1892. They settled on a homestead four miles south of Vale.

She leaves to mourn her loss ten children: Mrs. Ella Edwards, Mrs. Grace Evers, and Irwin of Vale, Frank of Rapid City, Mrs. Winnie Reis of Mobridge and Rollen and Gerald of Coeur d' Alene, 27 grand children and 9 great grand children and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Vale Congregational Church Saturday morning Feb. 23 at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Carroll D. Erskine, pastor of Sturgis officiated. The funeral music was furnished by members of the Sturgis Presbyterian Church girls choir under the direction of Margaret C. Mance. Mrs. Luc. Dyer was the pianist. The funeral arrangements and burial services were under the direction of the F.O. Jolley Funeral Home of Sturgis.

Burial was made in Hillview Cemetery in Isabel.
