Another Pioneer Laid to Rest
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Congregational church Rev. King officiating for Frank Jones, well known resident of the Thunder Butte country. Mr. Jones lived in that vicinity for the past thirteen years. Internment was made in Hill View cemetery.
Mr. Frank Jones passed away at his daughters home in Mobridge on Wed. Sept. 3, 1930 at 3:55 p.m. at the age of 64 years, 5 months, 3 days. The deceased was born at Lime Springs, Ia. on April 1, 1865. He was married at the age of 23 to Miss Ida May Smith on Jan. 28, 1888.
Leaving Iowa in 1892, he came to South Dakota and arrived on April 18, 1892, being one of the first settlers to come to the Black Hills, where he settled at Sturgis. The trip was made in a covered wagon. He moved to Lemmon in 1915 and later to Isabel in 1917.
Two brothers and one sister having passed on before, he leaves to mourn his loss: His wife, Mrs. Ida Jones, and eleven children, seven boys and four girls, Ella L. Edwards of Vale, S. D., Frank A. Jones of Rapid City, S.D., Grace T. Evers of Vale, S.D., Richard H. Jones of Sweet Grass, Mont., Irwin C. Jones, Nora May Veit, Rollen T. Jones, and Gerald Evert Jones all of Isabel, S.D., Owen S. Jones of Vale, S.D., Mrs. Andy Reis, Mobridge, S.D., Ernest Jones, diseased (sic), and 15 grand children.
