Vince Thraenert, age 88, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away Sunday February 23, 2020 at Regional Health Services in Cresco.

Vincent A. Thraenert was born September 17, 1931 in Howard County, Iowa to William and Margaret (Bilek) Thraenert. Vince graduated from the Cresco High School in 1948. He married Sadie Hovey on September 20, 1955 at Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. Vince was an electrician for over 30 years, he started his career working for Zak Electric. He later worked for Donaldson’s, he retired from there in 1998.

Playing guitar was a hobby Vince enjoyed his entire life and played in several local bands. He also spent a lot of time researching genealogy. During his research Vince and Sadie were able to meet many relatives they previously were unaware of. Vince also enjoyed gardening and helping Sadie in the kitchen.

Vince is survived by his wife Sadie of Cresco; three children: Julie (Brian) Humphries of Dallas, TX, Tom (friend Janet) Thraenert of Jefferson, WI, Tim (Dedra) Thraenert of Owatonna, MN; five grandchildren: Brody Humphries, William Thraenert, Christopher Thraenert, Nicholas Thraenert and Benjamin Thraenert along with nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his Sadie’s siblings: Janice Peter, Charlotte (Ken) Hebrink, Harold Hovey and Harry (Michelle) Hovey.

Vince is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark; an infant brother, Billy Bob Thraenert; two sisters: Rita (Harland) Guthart and Kathleen Thraenert. He is also preceded in death by Sadie’s siblings: Helen (Ed) Dotzler, Darleen (Orvin) Bakken, Don (Marlys) Hovey, Jerry Peter and Vera Hovey.
