OBITUARY.
TAFT.
Viola J. Webster was born in LaPorte Co., Ind., Jan. 12, 1855, and died in Monticello township, Minn., July 5, 1912, in her 57th year. When but a child, her parents moved to Howard Co., Iowa, being among the first settlers.
She attended country school. At 15 years of age she commenced teaching in the country school, but after a few years took up work in the high school and taught in the Cresco high school, first in the grades, then in the Grammar department.
December 21, 1878, she joined as a life companion, H. A. Taft in marriage. Three children were born of this marriage, two of them however, dying in infancy. There are left to mourn the loss of this loved one, beside the husband and son, Lyell W., the daughter Elva, father and mother, two sisters, Mrs. Pascoe and Mrs. Walton.
She has been a most faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church for about sixteen years, filling different positions in the church, always with a devoted love to the Master and a strong desire to serve those around her. She never was known to spare herself when others needed her help in whatever form that need might present itself to her. After a short but very painful illness, and after all was done that loving human ministries could do, the Heavenly Father took her home, it having been found the disease had gotten such a hold that it could not be arrested in its deadly course. She was at all times all that a good Christian, loving mother, faithful wife, helpful friend, sympathizing neighbor could possibly be, and many there are who will ever think of her with grateful and loving memory for ail she meant to them in her life.
Services were conducted at the home by Rev. Henry Nobbe, Sunday afternoon, July 7, 1912. Interment was in Oak Lawn cemetery. Cresco, Iowa.
