All neighbors and friends attended the funeral of J. Q. Bullis on Friday afternoon. Mr. Bullis was loved and respected by all and will be missed by all of his acquaintances.

BULLIS
John Quincy Adams Bullis was born July 6, 1830, at Schuyler Falls N. Y., and died in Chester, Iowa, Dec. 20, 1911.
At the age of 21 years and 6 months, on April 4, 1861,{?} he was married to Elizabeth Wells, who with eight children survive him: Mrs. G. S. Mead of Witherbee, N. Y., Mrs. E. J. Meighan and Ralph of Donnybrook, N. D., Mrs. Theresa Meighan of Minneapolis, Gaylord and Levi of Cone, Iowa, Mrs. W. W. Cray and Mrs. A. H. Breedlove of Chester.
The deceased engaged in teaching for many years in New York state. Twenty-six years ago he came to Iowa with his family and located on a farm near Chester, where he resided until 1907, when he moved to Chester.
Of a family of 12 children he leaves one brother, Smith Bullis of Lime Springs, Iowa, a sister, Mrs. Emily Edwards of Platsburg, N. Y.. having died one month ago at the age of 95 years.
The funeral was held in Chester Friday, conducted by Rev. Maxwell and Rev. Burgess.Transcriber’s Note: The year of his marriage as stated above he would have been 31 rather than 21 – I don’t know which number is in error.
