Marian Rouchka, 89, passed away peacefully alongside her loved ones on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at the Sheffield Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Friday, January 10, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home Cresco, with Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. and wake service held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Marian was born on April 19, 1930, in Waucoma, IA to Bernard and Elizabeth (Schmitt) Boeding. She attended the Waucoma St. Mary’s Parochial School.

Marian was united in marriage to Chester Rouchka on May 10, 1949 at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler, IA. From this union, six children were born: Kathleen (Tim) Gansen, Janet (Jim) Evenstad, Elizabeth (Mike) Gansen, Thomas (Debra), Mary Jane, and Christina (Gary) Griffith.

Marian and Chester farmed near Davis Corners for 34 years. Marian enjoyed dancing, playing cards, gardening, sewing, and the fellowship of the clubs and organizations she belonged to.

After moving to Cresco, Marian began her career as a CNA. She was known among residents and families as one of the most caring, loving, passionate, and empathetic CNAs at the Evans nursing home. Marian’s compassionate care carried over to her administering the Eucharist into her 80s. She would often put the Eucharist before her family because she wanted to make sure people knew Jesus. Her greatest joy in life, though, was being a part of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. Oh, how they loved to tease her and eat her deviled eggs. They will greatly miss Marian’s smile and the interest she showed in their lives.

She is survived by her five children, their spouses, son-in-law Mike Gansen. thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren that will arrive in early 2020.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Chester Rouchka, her daughter Elizabeth Gansen, her brother Donald Boeding, her sister Alice Papenheim, and her parents Bernard and Elizabeth Boeding. Her in-laws Arlene Boeding, Gene Papenheim, Albert and Emma Meyer, Joseph and Peggy Rouchka, Lester and Mary Rouchka, Merle and Mary Benson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Marian Rouchka Memorial Fund.
