Marie A. Sebastian, 95, of Cresco, IA died on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Accura Healthcare in Cresco.
Marie Alice Hron was born August 31, 1924 near Lourdes, IA to Vincent and Rose (Pisney) Hron, the oldest of 7 children. Marie was united in marriage to Donald Sebastian on January 31, 1944 at Assumption Church in Cresco and to this union, 3 children were born; Lois, Wayne, and Gary. Marie and Don enjoyed dancing in their younger years, traveling, and going out to eat. They were married for 67 years until Don passed away. Marie worked at Donaldson Company in Cresco for many years. She later spent much of her time volunteering at the Cresco Chamber of Commerce. She was well-known for her delicious homemade raspberry jam. Marie always put the needs of others before her own. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed.
Marie is survived by her children Lois Sebastian-Voyna of West Des Moines, IA and Gary (Marie) Sebastian of Pine City, MN, daughter-in-law Joan Sebastian of Cresco, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, sisters Evelyn Andresen of Cresco and Wilma (Dick) Makinster of Marion, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 2011, son Wayne Sebastian, great-grandson William David Sebastian, 3 brothers Joseph in infancy, James Hron, and William Hron, sister Helen Hron, brothers-in-law Gerald Courtney and Thomas Andresen, and nephew Danny Courtney.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Monday, January 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 and will continue for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
