OBITUARY.
Thaddeus Rucker was born at Wilmington, Ohio, Aug. 30, 1839; son of Johnathan and Antoinette Rucker. He went with his parents to Minnesota when a boy. On June 30, 1862, he was married to Eva Amanda McMillan at Fillmore, Fillmore county, Minn. During the war of the rebellion he answered his country’s call and enlisted in Battery K, 8th Minnesota, heavy artillery, and served till the end of the war. His country’s flag and his comrades were ever dear to him. With his family he emigrated to Jackson county, Minn., and later to southern Iowa.
Thirty-three years ago he came to Cresco and settled in New Oregon township where he lived for about nineteen years. The family then moved to Osage where they made their home until about two years ago. A little over a year ago he and his wife moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where he died Thursday, Nov. 10, 1910, at 11:30 p. m.
Mr. Rucker was a consistent and earnest Christian and was a member of the Baptist church, holding a membership at Oelwein, Iowa, where he spent a portion of last year. His life to the end was full of a perfect faith in his Savior.
His wife and four sons survive him. The sons are, Arthur of Cresco, Milton of Osage, James B. of Palmyra, Wis., and Ellsworth of Faulkton, S. D. All were present at this time.
Three children died in infancy and one daughter Mrs. Jennie Loomis Green passed away on Sept. 25th of this year, and was laid away just seven weeks ago Monday and he was placed by her side in New Oregon cemetery. There are eight gran{d}children all of whom were present. A kind, loving and faithful husband and father, a true and faithful friend. He will be missed from the home circle and by a multitude of friends. His perfect faith of being right with God at his last moment, and his fidelity throughout his life can but inspire all to strive for the good and perfect life.
