OBITUARY.
JOLLY.
At her home in Vernon Springs Twp., Thursday, Nov. 10, 1910, (Mrs. Elisha Ann Jolly, aged 37 years 8 months and 19 days.
Deceased was born in Obion county, Tenn., Feb. 22, 1873, living there till womanhood, where she united with the M. E. church at the early age of sixteen and had lived an earnest Christian life since. She was married to Abram T. Jolly Dec. 25, 1889, and was the mother of eleven children, eight of whom are still living, five sons and three daughters; also a brother in Texas, and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Johnson, of Arkansas, who was present at the funeral.
Services were conducted by Rev. Gammons of Cresco at the Vernon Springs school house, after which the remains were taken to the New Oregon cemetery for burial followed by a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives.
The circumstances attending the death of Mrs. Jolly are very sad. The family is well connected and highly appreciated in the state from which they came. Mr. Jolly held the office of treasurer of Stoddard county, Mo., from 1904 to 1908, later moving to St. Louis. Business reverses and illness were disastrous to their finances and last spring, wishing to get into the country with the family, they came to Howard county to spend the summer and take care of a large acreage of sugar beets near Bonair, hoping by the combined efforts of the family to enable them to return to the south and get a new start. The family is evidently educated, industrious and deserving of the aid and sympathy of their new found friends in the north who have so generously assisted them in their time of sorrow.
