OBITUARY.
WOODS.
Frank Woods, an aged and single man who made his home at the hotel in Calamine, was drowned Saturday in the Pecatonica river near Calamine. He and his dog went fishing about nine or ten o’clock and about noon the dog returned home alive. This led to an investigation, and the body of Mr. Woods was found floating in the river. Death was not due to drowning, but to apoplexy or heart failure. The funeral was held Tuesday, May 31st, Fathers Smith of Kenosha (nephew of the deceased) Hendersson of Kendall and Hannon of Darlington officiating. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery in Willow Springs. The attendants from abroad were Patrick Woods, brother of deceased, of Cresco, Iowa with his son and daughter, Mrs. Kelly, a sister, of Fennimore, with her daughter, and Father Smith, of Kenosha. The funeral was one of the largest ever seen in Willow Springs. Deceased was wealthy, and had often been importuned by relatives to make his home with them, and had finally consented to go to live with his sister, Mrs. Smith, and Sunday, May 28th, was fixed for his transfer to his new home. The transfer came instead on Saturday, and was to a home beyond the grave—Darlington (Wisconsin) Democrat, Thursday, June 2, 1910.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in the Holy Assumption Cemetery in Darlington and was born in 1836.
