Sophia Shultz was born the 10th of August 1845, in Poppenhagen, Pommern, Germany.
She was married in 1872 to John Evert and emigrated to America in 1883 and lived in or near Cresco till her death which occured Friday, May 14th, at half past five in the morning.
In 1893 her husband died and two years later she married John Thuerk who also preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her loss four sons and one daughter, Carl Evert and Mrs. John Rakow of Cresco, Wm. Evert of Danvers, Minn., John Evert of St. Cloud, Minn., Frank Evert of Prairie du Chien, Wis., besides numerous other relatives and friends. Her age at the time of her death was 63 years, 9 months and 4 days.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the German Lutheran church, Rev. John Pless officiating. Interment in New Oregon cemetery.
