J. J. Clancy, of Elma, whose serious illness we mentioned last week, passed away on Saturday last, the funeral being held on Monday at Lourdes.

Obituary of James J. Clancy.
James J. Clancy passed away early Saturday morning, August 15 1908, at his home in Elma, after but a few days illness following an attack of paralysis, Deceased was born in Erie county, Pennsylvania, May 10, 1854 and was 54 years, 4 months and 5 days old at the time of his death. On June 11, 1877, at Cresco, Iowa, he was married to Ellen O’Brien, and to them were born nine children, five of whom, Mrs. Ellen M. Stevenson, Will, Francis, Jennie and James survive to mourn with their mother the loss of a kind and affectionate father and husband. The funeral was help from the church of the Immaculate Conception in Elma on August 17, 1908, and the remains were laid to rest in our Lady of Lourdes cemetery at Lourdes.
Mr. Clancy was one of the prominent farmers in Howard county having a fine farm in Paris township. Only last March the family moved to Elma where Mr. Clancy and his wife expected to find more comfort and a much needed rest after their years of labor on the farm. He was a highly esteemed member of the M. W. A. Camp No. 1344, at Cresco. A delegation from that camp was present at the funeral.—Elma New Era.
