Wm. Huckins passed away at his home in the first ward on Wednesday morning, after a long illness from dropsy.

Obituary of William Huckins.
William Andrew Huckins was born in Whitney township, Canada, Jan. 25, 1834, and died at his home in Cresco on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1908, aged 74 years, 1 month and 1 day.
He resided in Canada until nine years of age when he accompanied his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Huckins to Iroquois, Kankakee county, Illinois, near Middleport, where he lived eight years. In 1855, he moved to Floyd county, and then to Howard county, near Cresco.
In the yer{sic} 1859, he was married to Zylpha Gray, daughter of Thomas and Eliza Gray, and to them were born eleven children, eight of whom survive him as follows: Mrs. Esther Walker of Howard Center, Mrs. Alice Reynolds, of Wyoming; William, of Taopi, Minn.; Mrs. Elbe Miller, of Wyoming; Frank of Taopi; Mrs. Nellie Case of Cresco, Mrs. Edna Long of Howard Center. .Lucy, Adelbert and Ethel Wentworth pre¬eded him to the better world.
Farming was the occupation of the deceased until about nine years ago when he rented his farm and moved to Cresco.
The funeral occurred on Friday, Feb. 28th, at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Gammons. Interment was in New Oregon cemetery.Transcriber's Note: Find a Grave shows a photo of his gravestone which clearly shows him being born in 1824 and dying in 1898. The above shows dates exactly ten years later; however the age is the same in both.
