Tom Kelly Dies Suddenly.
This community was shocked, Wednesday, to learn that Tom Kelly had died suddenly during the night. He had gone to bed feeling cheerful and in his accustomed health. In the morning he was found dead. There was no evidence of his having struggled. The bed clothes were not disarranged and the expression on his face did not indicate that he had suffered. The doctors pronounce it heart failure. Tom had not been in the best of health for some years. About 5 years ago he went to Rochester to be operated on and he had not been rugged since.
Deceased was born on the Kelly homestead in Howard County, November 24, 1853,{sic} and was therefore in his 45th year. October 15, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Cecelia McGrane. The ceremony by Rev. F. J. Gunn at his residence in Elma, there being no church here at that time. To this union were born four children, Pearl, Luttabelle, Rosella and Regina. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly lived in Elma during nearly all their married life. They lived a year at Thorp, Ia., a year at Independence, Ia., and ten months at Taopi, Minnesota.
The funeral was held Friday from the Church of the Immaculate Conception and was attended by a large number of friends and relatives of the deceased. The church was crowded.—Elma New Era.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone shows his year of birth as 1863 and that agrees with what it says above as him being in his 45th year. It also shows his name spelled Kelley.
