Mary Ann Griem was born in Mecklenburg Schwerin, Jan. 29, 1826, and died February 6, 1908, aged 82 years and 6 days.
She was married to John Wessel, June 10, 1853, by Rev. Birhahn, which marriage was blessed with 10 children, four of whom survive her to mourn the loss of a kind and dear mother.
In 1854 she came to America and settled in Ohio, where they lived two years, then moving to Madison, Wis., where they lived fourteen years. In 1870 they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Paris township which has been her home until the time of death.
Two weeks ago she had a stroke of paralysis which left her quite feeble. Thinking that her time was near she called for her pastor to take the Lord's Supper and to prepare herself for the next world.
She was a member of the Martin Lutheran Congregation in Davis Corners, Iowa.
Funeral at her home in Paris township, Rev. J. Pless officiating; interment in New Oregon cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: Her last name is spelled two different ways.
