Mrs. J. H. Jones of Bonair, Ia., passed away Monday, March 11, 1907. After a serious illness of many weeks. The funeral was held at Foreston; she was laid to rest in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
JONES.
Mrs. J. Jones of Bonair, Iowa, was born near Racine, Wis., September 8, 1858, and died about 3 o’clock Monday morning March 11, 1907, in her 49th year. In 1866 the family moved to Welsh Prairie, Wis., and lived there until 1869, when they moved to Foreston, Iowa. Mrs. Jones joined the Foreston church when she was 13 years of age. On Christmas Eve, 1877, she married John H. Jones, Ten children were born to them, of whom two are dead, and eight are still living; the oldest if Mrs. D. H. Thomas of this town. She leaves a husband, eight children, three brothers, two sisters, besides a large number of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral took placer Tuesday afternoon, March 12th. Her pastor Rev. R. V. Griffith, and Rev. M. Bellows, Bonair, officiated at the house and Mr. Griffith and Rev. O. R. Morris officiated at the church and at the grave. Rev. Griffith spoke chiefly in English, basing his remarks on II Sam. 20:19th verse. The first part of it: “I am one of them that are peaceable and faithful in Israel.” He said that the good woman who spoke these words to Job, the commander-in-chief of the Jewish army was noted for three things: 1. she was wise, verse 16; 2. She was peaceable; 3. Faithful. These three were very prominent in Mrs. Jones character. She was one of the best women the writer ever knew. Her departure is a great loss to her family and to the church. May God bless her husband, her children, her brothers and sisters and all her friends.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone indicates her name was Catherine, but it shows her year of death as 1859. Find-a-Grave shows her maiden name as Williams.
