Mrs. Ellen Shea (Fennesy) was born in Limerick, Ireland, March, 17, 1839. Her mother died when she was six months old, after which she made her home with her aunt, who brought her to this country when she was 11 years old, landing in New York, where she remained until she was 18; then she went to Springfield, Mass. From there she went to La Salle, Ill., where June 10, 1859, she was united in marriage to William Shea. Six of the eight children survive, a daughter died in infancy and a son died after reaching maturity.
They moved to a farm in Howard Co. in 1876, near Howard Center, then to a farm near Lime Springs, where her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond 14 years ago. She moved to Cresco, 4 years ago, where she remained until she was called to her long home to rest, March 5.
