OBITUARY
MORSE.
After a long and painful illness, George Morse Passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 1906, at the age of nearly ninety will{sic} spent and useful years.
The deceased was born in Steuben county, New York, February 2, 1817, and at the age of six months was taken by his parents to Connecticut, and in this state and Massachusetts resided until in 1843, when he went to Syracuse, N Y., where he remained one year and then removed to Cassopolis, Mich. Here, in 1846, he was united in marriage to Dwanner Clower, who passed away February 23, 1904, after a weeded life of 58 years. In 1852, the ceased and his wife moved to Franklin Wis., where they lived one year and then oved to Wayne, Wis., where they remained until coming to Howard county in 1856, settling on a farm in New Oregon township, where they lived until 1873, when they moved to Cresco, when he engaged in the agricultural implement business and other forms of business until his retirement from active business life several years ago.
Of the seven children born to this couple, but two survive the death of the parents, Frank and Elizabeth, both of Cresco.
The funeral of deceased was held at his late residence on Sunday afternoon at one o’clock. Rev. H. J. Hinman officiating, assisted by Rev. John Gammons. Interment was in the family lot in New Oregon Cemetery.
In the death of Mr. Morse, the county loses one of its earliest settlers, known for his honesty and industry, and one of the type of sturdy pioneers who right faithfully served the Lord in the performance of duty.
