Obituary.
HARRIS—Died at his home in Elma, Iowa, Saturday, July 20, 1901, Mr. Martin Harris, aged 75 years.
Deceased was born in Ireland in 1826. He came to Canada with his parents when about 18 years of age. He was married in that country to Miss Catherine Dunn in 1846. 1865 they moved to Wisconsin, and later to to{sic} Iowa, first settling in Winnesheik, then in Howard county, whore for seven years they lived on a farm just west of the Strother place, after which they removed on a farm near Saratoga, where they resided until they moved to Elma in 1896. Death occurred Saturday afternoon as the result of exhaustion due to the very hot weather. The funeral was held Tuesday from the Catholic church in Elma. Interment in Lourdes cemetery.
Mr. Harris was a frugal, industrious man and honest in his dealings with all. He knew well the hardships and struggles of a pioneer life, but by his industry and frugality had acquired a fair allotment of this world’s goods, besides a wife seven children. Wm. H. at Elma, J. N. north of Lourdes, Geo. P., at Sioux Falls, S. D., .M. W. Ceder Rapids, Jas. E. of Minneapolis, Mrs. F. D. Elwood, and Mrs. Maria Harry, of Elma, all of whom were present at the funeral.—Elma Dem.
