Katie, daughter of David and Anna Conway, was born at Ridgeway, Wis., Feb. 13, 1882, and departed this life at her home at Cresco, after a long illness from cardiac failure, Dec. 20, 1904.
On June 28, 1904, she was united in marriage at Hollandale, Wis., to Will H. Shea of this place.
Mrs. Shea’s death is a very sad one from the fact that scarcely six months ago this young couple marched up the aisle to the happy strains of a wedding march in the bloom of youth and health, viewing life as one sweet dream of future wedded bliss, little dreaming ere Christmas came with its bells of joy and gladness, the future which they planned so happily would be changed from happiness to sorrow by the grim angel of death.
But even in the flush of youth, with a long life of usefulness before her, she was forced to relinquish the hopes and plans of life, and when she found she must give up this life, she yielded up her sweet life to her Maker without a murmur.
She was a devout Christian and all through her illness she was fully resigned to her fate. During her short stay in our midst she made many friends and was much endeared to all whom she met, which was shown by their appreciation in acts of kindness during her illness.
She leaves a husband, father and mother, five sisters and two brothers together with a great many relatives and friends and all have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement.
She was laid to rest in St. Joseph’s cemetery.

Winter wind again is blowing
O’er the grave so newly made
A darling one has gone and left us
In a grave by loved ones laid.

She has gone, our own sweet darling
Never more her face we’ll see,
Gone from earth and all it’s sorrows,
To dwell with angels pure and free.

How we miss thee dearest Katie,
All the world seems dark and drear
And our hearts are torn and aching
For the love of one so dear.

In the cold damp earth we laid her,
Rest was on her youthful brow.
She is sleeping, quietly sleeping
And no care disturbs her now.

Silently the shades of evening,
Gather ‘round my lonely door,
Silently they bring before me,
A face I shall see no More.
