Mrs. Carrie Boughner passed away about four o’clock yesterday morning, after a long and painful illness, the latter days of which were prolonged simply by her indominatible{sic} will. She was a woman of character and energy, who will be sadly missed in the community and in the various societies of which she was s member, but in those not so much as in the home circle where she was a most potent factor. The funeral occurs at the home at 1:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon .

OBIIUARY.
BOUGHNER.
Carrie E. Covey was born Jan. 9, 1860 at South Bombay, N. Y. She removed with her parents to Cresco where she grew to womanhood and was married to Henry Boughner, on January 10, 1881. Five children were born to them: John, Edna, Walter, Henry and Bennie. Mrs. Boughner was a woman who was always willing to enlist her energies in any good work. To her, duty became pleasure. She was a tireless worker in every cause which appealed to her sympathies. She was a true friend, a kind neighbor, a faithful and loving wife, a devoted mother. In life's prime, Death has called her, and after a painfull{sic} illness during which she fought bravely the foe, and in which all that kind hearts and hands and the best of medical skill administered could do, she yielded the life which has been fraught with kind service, and the hands so long employed in helping others are at rest. Besides the husband and children so sadly bereft, there remains to mourn her loss, the mother, Mrs. Covev and two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Tillson, of Perham, Minn., and Mrs. J. J. Brown, of our city, besides a large circle of friends.
She was a member of the M. E. church, L. A. S., Royal Neighbors, Mystic Toilers, Relief Corps, and the New Oregon Cemetery association.
She passed over the river at 4, a.m., Thursday, March 3rd, 1904.
The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon from the M. E. church, and was the largest attended funeral ever in that building, her many neighbor{s}, friends and associates in the various lodges and societies to which she belonged, all wishing to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased. Rev. Gammons officiated. Interment was in New Oregon cemetery.
