An Old Settler Called.
James V. Flaherty, who became a resident of Howard county In 1856, died at his home in Lourdes, Friday, October 23, at 6:20 in the morning, aged about 66 years. He was born at Spiddal, Galway, Ireland, In 1837, and came to Baltimore, Md., in 1850, and to Howard county in 1856. February 11,1871, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Bardis, and to this union the following children were born, Mrs. Anna Reynolds, Joseph V. Flaherty, Mrs. Mary Montague, Margaret, Vincent, Clara and Catharine, who with the widow survives him, and two, Bernard and John who preceded him to the better world. The deceased was a man of unblemished character, of wide acquaintance and held in universal esteem. His funeral was largely attended from the Catholic church at Lourdes, Sunday morning, Rev. Father Nelson officiating, the interment being in the cemetery at that place.
In their bereavement and sorrow they have the sympathy of the public in which the PLAIN DEALER joins.
