Mrs. P. E. DeNoyles received a telegram Friday announcing the death, that morning of her father, Geo. Patrick in California. The remains will be sent to Cresco for interment.

PATRICK.
George Patrick died at San Francisco, California, July 9, 1903, aged 86 years, 3 months and 27 days. Mr. Patrick was born at Kobbleskill, New York, March 8, 1817, came to Iowa in June, 1856, and located on a farm in Howard county, Iowa, one mile west of the Big Wapsiepinicon river, on the county line adjoining Chickasaw county, was a blacksmith by trade. Followed that vocation, with farming, until the civil war broke out. Being a very patriotic man, he enlisted November 4, 1861, in Co. H, 4th Regt. Of Iowa volunteer cavalry for three years or during the war. While with his regiment in the Arkansas swamps, his health got badly impaired by malarial fevers, and after nearly two years of hard service, he was honorably discharged on account of disabilities, acquired while in the army, and returned home. He participated in nearly all of the battles and many skirmishes that his regiment was engaged in, including the siege of Vicksburg, Miss. He resided in Chickasaw county, until 1896, when he with his wife moved to Cresco, Iowa, to be near his daughter, Mrs. P. E. De Noyelles.
After the death of Mrs. Patrick, which occurred June 18, 1902. Mr. Patrick concluded he would go to California. In the fall of 1902, Mr. Patrick purchased a home at Riversides, California. Mr. Pattrick being an ardent Grand Army comrade, was the organizer of Bassett Post in Chickasaw county, Iowa, and was an honorable member in good standing of the Post for several years, and on locating in Cresco Iowa, joined Memoral{sic} Post No. 216 G. A. R., on locating at Riversides, California, he took a transfer from Memorial Post No. 216, to Riversides Post, G. A. R., of which he was an honorable member in good standing at the time of his death, Mr. Patrick being a Pioneer of Howard County, Iowa, his remains were brought here for interment by the side of his wife in New Oregon Cemetry.{sic}
Eight children survive him, viz: Mrs. Sarah Harris, San Francisco Cal.; Geo. H. Pattrick, Whitney Oregon; Almeron Pattrick ,Rapid City, S.D.; Mrs. Mary Culver, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. P.E. DeNoyells, Cresco, Iowa; Mrs. Louisa Carrol and Mrs. Lillian Secrest, Minneapolis, Minn, and Mrs. Belle Stone, Covello,Washington.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the New Oregon cemetery.

Mrs. P. E. DeNoyelles and family desire to thank the G. A. R. and W. R. C. for their kindly interest at the funeral of Mr. Geo. Patrick, father of Mrs. DeNoyelles, also Mrs. Miller and Miss Watts for their appropriate music on that occassion.{sic}

Transcriber’s Note: Names are spelled several ways. His gravestone in New Oregon Cemetery shows his birth date as March 8, 1818.
