Obituary.
Mrs. Mary McCarty, wife of Thomas McCarty, died in Cresco, Saturday, Dec. 22, 1900, aged 34{sic} years 8 months and 23 days.
Deceased was born in the city of New York, May 29, 1863, came to Iowa with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry O’Reilley in 1887, was united in marriage with Thos. McCarty, November 1885. Six children were born to them, five of whom together with the husband remain to mourn her untimely death. Her interment occured Sunday from the Catholic church to St. Joseph Cemetery.
David O ’Relliey and wife, of Chicago, came last Thursday and were present at her funeral, also her sisters Mrs. Nellie Fox and Mrs. Kittle Harris, of Greeley, Nebraska, and Miss Maggie O’Reilley and Mrs. Josie Leirich, of St. Paul.
In behalf of the friends and family of the deceased, sincere and heartfelt thanks are extended to the kind friends and neighbors for the sympathy given in their day of sorrow.

Transcriber’s Note: Calvary Cresco Cemetery records she is buried there; however, the name on the gravestone is spelled McCarthy. The above age and birth date don’t agree.
