Transcriber’s Note: There is a James Sweeney buried in Calvary Elma Cemetery who was born 1830 which could possibly be this person.

Sudden Death Near Elma.
Elma Democrat —James Sweeney, one of the respected farmers of Howard county, living on the banks of the Wapsiepinicon, died New Year’s morning. He had gone out to the pump for some water, feeling about as well as usual, and without a moment’s notice dropped dead, presumably with heart disease. Mr. Sweeney is one of the old residents of the county and one of its prosperous farmers.
