Funeral services for “Mike” James Simpson were held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco with Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Pallbearers were: Rick Wangen, Steve Good, Dean Hron, Jon Fisher, Mike Wilson, and Terry Murray. Honorary pallbearers were: Ronnie Bronner, Gene Bronner, Delbert Ihns, Jr., and Gary Murray.
James, 41, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at the Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco of an apparent heart attack.
James Michael Simpson was born April 28, 1961 in Houston, TX, the son of Murl Bruce and Ella (McVay) Simpson. He attended school in Houston and worked at various jobs. Mike had married and later divorced. In 1990, he relocated to Iowa, where two of his brothers were living.
He worked for a short period of time at Featherlite Trailers and about seven years ago, he started working as a mechanic at Rick’s Repair in Cresco.
He loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by special friend: Lori Patterson; one daughter: Tabatha; his father: Murl of Pasadena, TX; three brothers: his twin, Kenneth of Charles City, Joe of Mason City, and Bruce of Houston, TX; and one sister: Sandy Simpson of Phoenix, AZ.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother: Ella.
