PROTIVIN - Eunice Frances Pentico, 88, Protivin, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at the Oneota Riverview Care Facility in Decorah after a brief illness.
A Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Protivin, with Rev. John Moser officiating. Marlene Pecinovsky was organist, accompanying the Holy Trinity Choir.
Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Cresco, with Dennis Roberts, Bernita Schemlonek, Curt Lukes, Tom Lukes and Jennifer Sandfar as honorary pallbearers.
The family greeted friends an hour prior to the funeral at the church. Hugeback's Protivin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Eunice was born May 23, 1914 in Plymouth, the daughter of Martin and Anna (Kvasnicka) Hoeldt. She attended Assumption Grade School in Cresco and was a 1932 graduate of Cresco High School. On Nov. 12, 1936 she married Bob Roberts. The couple lived in Cresco, LeRoy, MN and Clermont. They later divorced. In 1975, Eunice married Glenn Pentico of Des Moines. She worked for the Downe Computer Service in Des Moines and retired in 1975. Eunice and Glenn then moved to an acreage in Saratoga for a few years. Following the death of Glenn in 1994, she moved to Protivin. Eunice was an active member of the Protivin Senior Citizens and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting.

Surviving are one son, Wayne (Lavene) Roberts, Decorah; one daughter, Sharon (Steve) Lukes, Waterloo; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Joerger, Cresco; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands; two sisters, Louise Ernst and Harriett Thompson; a brother, James Hoeldt.
