Services were held for Lucille Ollendieck on Tuesday, January 22 at St. Joseph’s Worship Center in Cresco, Iowa, with burial in the Calvary Cemetery.
Lucille Elizabeth Ollendieck, 87, died January 19, 2002 at the Regional Health Services of Howard County Hospital in Cresco.
Lucille Ollendieck was born on June 16, 1914, near Cresco, the daughter of William A. and Ella C. (Martens) Reinhardt. She attended rural school. She lived with her family on a farm north of Cresco, then moved to a farm south of town. She was a waitress at the Rainbow Cafe before her marriage.
On June 30, 1937, Lucille was united in marriage to Raymond Ollendieck at St. Joseph’s Church. To this union, four children were born. After their marriage, they lived on the farm on the pole line road, where they spent their married life. Lucille worked at the Deerwood Club in 1947. She and her husband, Ray owned and operated the Highway Inn from 1955 until 1957; and the Silver Grill in Riceville in 1953; the Friendly Inn in 1955; and the Parkview Cafe from 1959 until 1974, when they retired from the restaurant business.
In her free time, Lucille enjoyed playing cards, doing embroidery, and crafts, and touring the countryside in their car. She loved to be with her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Betty and her husband, Louie Wenthold of Cresco, Gerald and his wife, Judy of Ridgeway, Iowa, Dorene and her husband, Harold (Butch) Burnikel of Lime Springs, Iowa, and Wayne and his wife, Sharon of Cresco; her grandchildren: Gene and Louie Wenthold, Martha Byrnes, Cindy Krause, Lori Kerian, Kathy Rice, Rodney, Terry, Brian and Mike Ollendieck, Glenda Bodensteiner, Jeff, Randy and Dennis Burnikel, Carla Moser, Jill Bries, and Sally, Jena and Lance Ollendieck; l3 great grandchildren.
Lucille is preceded in death be{sic} her parents, her husband Raymond H. on July 22, 1997, one brother, Lester Reinhardt and one sister, Viola Reicks.
