Transcribed by Joy MooreCRESCO -- Gary L. Gesell, 49, Cresco, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002 at his home in Cresco.
Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elma with Reverend Michael Parris officiating.
Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, Elma with Lonnie Friedrich, Larry Friedrich, Rod Friedrich, Jerry Palmersheim, Don Bartels and Galen Stover serving as casket bearers.
Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, Elma and will also be an hour prior to services at the church.
Gary Lee Gesell was born March 25, 1953 in Amarillo, TX, the son of Gilbert and Wilma (Kapka) Gesell. He graduated from Crestwood High School in 1971 and went cn to complete the Med Tech Program at the University of Minnesota. He was united in marriage to Linda Schmidt in 1972 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elma. Following their marriage they resided in the Elma area. Gary worked in various places including White Farm Equipment, Charles City; Featherlite, Cresco; Regional Health Services of Howard County, C.H. Wilson Transport and spent some time farming.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, softball, snowmobiling, playing cards with his friends and working with automobiles spending many hours restoring a 1963 Chevy Impala.
Survivors include his mother, Wilma, Elma: three children, Aaron (Julie) Gesell, Coralville, Jessica Gesell and Kelly Gesell, both of Cresco and their mother Linda of Cresco; a grandson, Dylan and a brother, Roger (Barb) Gesell, Elma.
Preceding him in death was his father, Gilbert; a brother, Loren and a sister, Dianna.
