Funeral services for Jeffery Sommer were held at 10:30 a. m. on Monday, January 6 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Lee Laaveg officiating.Interment was in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Pallbearers were: Adam Hickman, Shannon Owen, Luis Solano, Tim Eastvold, Chad Erickson, and Eric Gustafson. Peterson Lund Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Jeffrey, 33, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002.

Jeffrey C. Sommer was born August 19, 1969 in Iowa City, the son of Carl and Ora Mae (Fagner) Sommer. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. Jeff grew up in Cresco, moving with his family to Forest City in 1974. He graduated from Forest City High School : in 1988 and continued his education, at the Lincoln Technical School in Des Moines, graduating as one of the top 10 students in his class.

He made is home in Forest City and for the last 13 years has worked at Skarlis Olds Honda Motor Company in Mason City.

He liked to go fishing, loved playing cards and was an excellent cook. He also enjoyed watching football and NASCAR races on TV.

He is survived by his mother: Ora Mae of Forest City; and one sister: June Fretheim of Decorah.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents.
