Transcribed by Joy MooreELMA -- Barbara Dvorak, 47, rural Elma, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, rural Elma with Reverend John Hemann officiating. Carolyn Price will be the organist and will accompany the North Washington Men's Choir singing "Here I Am Lord", "I Am The Bread Of Life", "Prayer Of St. Francis" and "On Eagle's Wings". John Price was lector. Danny and Aaron Price presented the offertory gifts. Mass servers were Logan Ptacek and Scott Valvoda. Barbara's husband and children placed the pall.
Interment was in the church cemetery with Joe Thraenert, Don Shatek, Mike O'Neill, Tom Shatek, Dean Dvorak and Randy Mitchell serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Steve Dahl, Dennis Boos, Lester Shatek, Joe Dunn, Tom Collins, Kenny Kuhn, Ed Huegel and Leo Hart.
Visitation was from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 4 p.m. Rosary and 6 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation was also an hour prior to services at the church an Monday,.
Barbara Jean Dvorak was born March 23,1955 in Redwood Falls, MN, the daughter of John G. and Marcelyn (Wagner) Price. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1973. After her schooling she worked in a number of nursing homes in the Wabasso, MN area. She went on to further her education at Rochester Community College, where she became a Registered Nurse. Barbara worked briefly in Rochester, before going to work at St. Joseph Community Hospital in New Hampton. On Aug. 21, 1976, she was united in marriage to Jerry Dvorak in Wabasso. Following their marriage the couple resided on farms in the Elma area and she continued to work as a nurse at St. Joseph Community Hospital for 26 years. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where she taught CCD classes for ten years and was a member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed nature, cross-country skiing, biking, boating, traveling, reading, the piano and music.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry; a daughter, Leah; two sons, Dustin and Garrett; her father, John, Wabasso, MN; eight brothers, John (Wendy) Price, Eden Prairie, MN, Joe (Debbie) Price, Byron, MN, Doug (Kathy) Price, Eagan, MN, Mark (Donnie) Price, Vadnais Hts., MN, Tony (Lauree) Price, Wabasso, MN, Greg (Debra) Price, Wabasso, MN, Roger (Carolyn) Price, Sioux City and Ralph (Jean) Price, Lamberton, MN and two sisters, Kathy (Joel) Baggenstoss, Apple Valley, MN and Sue (John) Hilgert, Bird Island, MN.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Marcelyn.
