Services held for Don Chyle, 79
Funeral services for Don Chyle of Cresco were held on Tuesday, March 12 at Holy Trinity Church in Protivin with Rev. John Moser officiating. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Protivin. Pallbearers were: Edmund Samec, Jim Harms, Gary Swestka, Bob Stika, Doug Pecinovsky, and Tom Lentz. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Don, 79, died Thursday, March 7, 2002 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.
Don Chyle was born November 19, 1922 in Howard County, between Cresco and Protivin, the son of Wenceslaus and Clara (Komarek) Chyle. He attended Holy Trinity Elementary School and Rudolphinium High School. Following his education, he stayed on the farm helping his parents.
On June 14, 1948 he married Arlene Sobolik in the Holy Trinity Church in Protivin. He lived on the family Century Farm and dairy farmed.
He received the Distinguished Family Dairy Award for Howard County in 1998. He was a long time Farm Bureau member, and served on the Howard County Extensin{sic} Board for many years. He was a member of the Protivin Council of the Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed fishing and doing custom windrowing for people. Because of health reasons, his last three years were spent doing reading and driving short distances.
He is survived by his wife Arlene; one son: Mark of Cresco; and one sister: Evelyn Steffen, of Cresco.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
