Services held for Martha Tonjes.
Mary May (Marti) Tonjes died at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester from natural causes on May 5, 2001.
Funeral services for Marti were Thursday, May 10, at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Minn. A memorial service was held Friday, May 11, at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church with Tim Sir officiating and burial of the cremated remains in the Saratoga Cemetery.
Mary May was born August 16, 1943 in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daugher{sic} of the Rudolf and Hilda Tonjes. She grew up in Howard County and attended school at Cresco. She moved to Rochester in the early 1970s and worked in Environmental Services at St. Mary's Hospital.
She is survived by a son, Kevin Abrahamson of Pella, Iowa; two brothers, Arnold (Janet) Tonjes of Elma, Iowa and Edward (Joanne) Tonjes of Peoria, Ill., and one sister, Marion (Mrs. Maruice) Meschke of Owatonna, Minn., and one grandchild.
