Funeral services for Lillian Shimek of Cresco were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 7 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes. Rev. Roger R. Rethamel and Rev. Robert J. Ament officiated. Interment was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Lourdes. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Lillian, 91, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 at her home.
Lillian Rose Shimek was born January 4, 1910 in Paris Township, Howard County, the daughter of John F. and Anna S. (Kubicek) Drtina.
On September 20, 1932 she married Adolph Shimek at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. They settled on the family farm in 1942 and in 1997 they moved into Cresco.
Survivors include one daughter: Marie Hubka of Cresco; one grandson; and one brother: Arthur of Marion.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; her parents; two brothers: George F. and Frank; and four sisters: Grace Bagan, Helen Shimek, Irene Hyberger, and Marie Copeman.
