Ronald Peters, 86, LeRoy
The community mourns the loss of their friend and public servant, Ronald Peters, who died Tuesday, November 27 after a gradual deterioration in his health.
Services were held on Friday, November 30, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church in LeRoy, MN, where he was an active member for many years. Pastor David Farrant conducted the service. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, I A.
Ronald was born September 28, 1915 to John Edwin Peters and Cecelia Daley Peters. He was the oldest of four children. His early education was at the Adams parochial school and the Oak Dale Township rural school in Howard county. At the end of eighth grade he graduated with honors. He attended high school in LeRoy, MN. His education was interrupted by a fractured leg that took several months to heal.
On May 29, 1937 he married Opal Powell of LeRoy. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Ronald Edwin and Danial Wayne who reside in the LeRoy community.
Ronald was a loving husband and father and successful farmer. However, Ronald was best known for his years as a bus owner, manager, and driver in his community. Ronald faithfully delivered our community’s children to school, and numerous extra curricular activities for nearly fifty years.
Ronald is survived by his wife Opal, two sons, Ronald Jr. and wife Gloria, Danial and wife Ardelle, five grandchildren, Tara Peters Stockman and husband Brian, Jay Peters and Lindsey, Brenda Peters, Nathan Peters and Miki Lu Gustafson Peters, and Naomi Peters. Three great-grandchildren, Samatha Stockman, Andrew Peters, and Shea Gustafson Peters, one sister-in-law, Orilla Peters, nephew Steven Peters, and niece, Debra Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Raymond and Richard and his sister May Pisney.
