Marie Martin, 86, services held
Memorial services for Marie Martin of Denver, CO, formerly of Cresco, were held on Saturday, September 8 at the Wheat Ridge Congregation United Church of Christ in Wheat Ridge, CO. Graveside services will be held at Elliota Cemetery, Canton, MN on October 6 at 1:00 p.m.
Marie, 86, died Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at Hospice of St. John in Lakewood. CO.
Marie Oraker was born on May 7, 1915 in Canton, MN where she grew up and attended school. She attended Winona State Teachers College in Winona. MN and taught school in several local communities including Choice, Prosper and Harmony, MN.
On July 30. 1930 she married Neil Martin in Canton. MN. They made their home in Winona for several years then moved to Cresco where they owned and operated a grocery store. Neil died in 1971. In July of 1988 Marie moved to Wheat Ridge, CO where she was active in the Wheat Ridge Congregation United Church of Christ and Preceptor Lambda Sorority of Beta Sigma Phi.
She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by four children: Nancy Bickford of Arvada, CO, Daniel Martin of Lime Springs, Mary Gilseth of Ellsworth, WI, and Karen Nicholas of Boliver, MO; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
