ELMA -- Helena Mannetter, 92, Elma, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage of natural causes.
Funeral Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City with Reverand Mark Anderson officiating-. .
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City with Raymond Schmidtke, Richard Scnmidtke, Christian Detje, Wallace Schilling, Daniel McGrane, Ronald O'Donnell and Gordon Lockie serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Sonja Cotton, Mike Cotton, Mija Cotton, Brent Slindee and Nadia Slindee.
Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at Conway Funeral Home, Elma, and also an hour prior to services at the church.
Helena Evelyn Schmidtke Mannetter was born March 16, 1909 in rural Orchard, the daughter of Alexander Ferdinand and Helena Christine (Guderian) Schmidtke. She was baptized in April of 1909 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City by Reverend Casselman. She graduated from Osakis High School in Osakis, MN and continued her education there taking additional secretarial courses the next year. She married Siegfried Fred Mannetter on Sept. 6, 1942 at The Little Brown Church, Nashua. They farmed in the rural Elma area since March of 1953. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City where she was active in her church circle.
Through the years she was a Mitchell County Extension Council member, a member of the Farm Bureau and the Farm Bureau Women's Organization. She enioyed going on bus trips with tne Osage Senior Center and spending time with her family.
Survivors include a daughter, Kay (Algie A.) Slindee, Elma; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Harold (Wanda) Schmidtke, Oscoda, MI; two sisters-in-law, Laura (Wilbur) Henry, Charles City and Regina Wise, California; a brother-in-law, Agon (Barbara) Mannetter, Charles City and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Zeke, in 1993; an infant daughter, Dianne Lyne; two sisters, Francis and Ruth and two brothers, Vernon and Donald.
