Services held for Marie Mackenburg
Funeral services for Marie Mackenburg of Cresco were held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 30 at the St. Joseph’s Worship Center in Cresco. Rev. Henry Charipar officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Marie, 81, died Sunday, January 28, 2001 at her home in Cresco.
Marie Mackenburg was born February 4, 1919 at Cresco, the daughter of Henry and Thekla (Holthaus) Kapler. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cresco. She attended St. Jospeh’s school and graduated from Assumption High School.
On July 5, 1947 she married Theron Mackenburg at Cresco. She was a lifetime resident of Cresco, a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and she belonged to a study club.
Marie liked to embroider, garden, and was an excellent cook. She was inflicted with MS very early in her marriage, but continued to do many of the things she enjoyed throughout her life.
Survivors include three daughters: Jennifer McDuff of Ft. Collins, CO, Theresa Aga of Ridgeway, and Paula Keehner of Luana; four grandchildren; one brother: Herman Kapler of Cresco; and three sisters: Corrine Moudry of Protivin, Virginia Powers of Des Moines, and Annette Polashek of Cresco.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Theron in 1986; her parents; and two brothers: Leonard as an infant and Robert as a child.
