Wallace L. Kutzbach
ELMA - Wallace L. "Wally" Kutzbach, 82, Elma, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 at the Colonial . Manor, Elma of natural causes.
Funeral services were ll a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Zion, Lutheran* Church, Alta Vista with Reverend Peter D. Peterson officiating. Norma Firkins was the organist.
Burial was in Howard Cemetery, Elma with Orie Windhorst, James Kutzbach, Don Ritchmond, John Bartels, Don Bartels and Ron Tierney serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were
grandchildren, Lisa Kutzbach, ravis Kutzbach, Claudia Kutzbach, Kevin Thompson, Susan Wilson and Rachel Childs.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 .m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at onway Funeral Home, Elma, and an hour prior to services at the church.
Wallace Louis Kutzbach was born June 11, 1919 in Sharon, KS, the son of Ernest and Bertha (Reinke) Kutzbach. At an early age his family moved to Macon, MO where he received most of his schooling. The family later moved to a farm south and east of Elma. On Dec. 12, 1940 he was united in marriage to Velma (Prinz) at St. Paul's Maple Leaf Lutheran Church. The couple farmed until 1974 when they retired and moved to Elma. Wally served on the Zion Lutheran Church Council, Elma City Council, Howard Cemetery Board and was instrumental in designing and constructing the arch over the cemetery gateway.
Survivors include his wife, Velma, Elma; two sons, Clifford (Marlys) Kutzbach, Alta Vista and Lowell (Anne) Kutzbach, Burnsville, MN; two daughters, Lynette Thompson, Winfield, KS and Shirley (Mark) Childs, Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; a great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepmother, Theresa; a brother, Lester; three sisters, Eunice Ritchmond, Blanche Streich and Viola Fleeman; two step-brothers and two step-sisters.
