Funeral services for Roma Johnson was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs with interment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Rev. Linda Johnson officiated. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Roma, 86, died Friday, October 12, 2001 at her home in Lime Springs.
Roma Charlotte Johnson was born June 1, 1915 in Cresco, the daughter of Peter and Sanna (Reilstad) Fister. She graduated from LeRoy, MN High School in 1933 and attended college at Cedar Falls. Roma taught in rural schools in West Union and LeRoy for several years.
On July 23, 1940 she married Leland Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She has lived in Lime Springs the past 61 years.
Roma was an active member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a member of the UPW Association during most of those years. Following the closure of the Presbyterian Church she joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Roma was also a long time member of the JC Club and more recently a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association.
She enjoyed traveling and some of her fondest memories were of the many trips she and Leland had taken and their winters in Arizona.
She is survived by one daughter: Deanne Schabert of St. Peter, MN; one son: Mark of Shoreview, MN; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Roma was preceded in death by her husband Leland on. December 15, 1992; her parents; and one brother: Casper.
