PROTIVIN - John J. Busta, 63, Protivin, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001 in Cresco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Protivin, with Rev. John Moser presiding. Colleen Busta will be soloist and Verda Mikota will be organist. The pall will be placed on the casket by his wife and children. Lector is Maureen Busta. John's grandchildren will present the offertory gifts.
Interment is in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery with Richard Jirak, Eldred Retnamel, Wilmer Hubka, Jim Bohr, Gary Pecinovsky, A1 Pecinovsky, Harlan iVlikota and Charles Meyer as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Hadacek, Arnold Busta, Leo Pecinovsky, Jim Busta, Lyle Dietzenbach and Jim Bouska.
Visitation was 3-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at Hugeback's Protivin Funeral Home, with a 4 .m. Rosary, a 6 p.m. Scripture service and a 6:30 p.m. video memorial tribute.
John was born Nov. 22, 1938 near Little Turkey in rural Chickasaw County, the son of William and Viola (Pavlovec) Busta. He attended Utica Township #7 Country School. Prior to his marriage, John worked for Klimesh Ford in Spillville. On June 10,1961, John married Judy Pecinovsky at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. The couple lived south of Protivin for five years before moving into Protivin. Shortly after their marriage, John began working as a Maintainer Operator for Chickasaw County Secondary Roads. In 1974 he began working for the Rural Electric Cooperative in Cresco, initially as an operator and currently as a mechanic. John enjoyed fishing, playing cards, going to casinos, his grandchildren, bird watching, old time country music, visiting with family and friends and traveling, especially their trip to the Czech Republic.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; two sons, Jeff (Sue) Busta, Calmar and Jayme (Kandi) Busta, Atkins; a son-in-law, Terry Broderick, Mason City; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Bill (Maureen) Busta, New Hampton, Norbert (JoAnn) Busta, Little Turkey, Marvin (Sue) Busta, Madison, WI; two sisters, Anita (Tom) McGowan, Lawler and Marjorie Jacobsen, Chandler, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, John Busta Jr. in 1962; a daughter, Jodene Broderick on May 14, 2000; a sister, Marlene Busta.
