PROTIVIN - Susan L. Bruess, 45, Garnavillo, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 29 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin with Rev. John Moser presiding. Mass servers are Michael Soukup, Kyle Soukup and Spencer Bruess. Lectors will be Michelle Reiseck and Jordan Bruess. Offertory gifts will be presented by Jan Hansmeier and Cindy King. Marlene Pecinovsky will be pianist and Jamie Bruess, Linley Bruess, Megan Lukes and Jordan Bruess vocalists.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery with Jamie Jirak, Kurt Jirak, Jason Reiseck, Corey Straw, Jacob Bruess and Dalton Bruess as pallbearers.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 28 at Hugeback's Protivin/Funeral Home, with a 4:30 p.m. Parish Scripture Service.
Susan was born Aug. 26, 1955 in Cresco, the daughter of Arthur and Irene (Huinker) Bruess. She was a long time resident at G&G Living Center, Garnavillo.
Survivors include her mother, Irene Bruess, Protivin; two brothers, Larry (Diane) Bruess and Randy (Zita) Bruess, Protivin; seven sisters, Donna (Doug) Reiseck, Waterloo, Diane (Bill) Sullivan, Kathy (Dale) Ryan, Jan (Wayne) Hansmeier, Connie (Keith) Lukes, all of Protivin, Betty (Doug) Soukup, Spillville and Cindy (Steve) King, Mason City.
Preceding her in death were her father and an infant brother, Lawrence John Bruess.
